About
Amir has been teaching undergraduate Statistics for past 29 years. His teaching responsibilities began in 1989 and continued through May 2010 at UMass Amherst. During this time, he was nominated 5 times for the university wide Distinguished Teacher Award. He won the College Teacher of the Year Award in 2005. His teaching responsibilities continued at Babson College from September 2010 through May 2015. He taught at Mount Holyoke College from September 2015 through May 2017. He has been teaching at UConn Storrs since August 2018. He has taught small size lectures (35- 40 students) as well as large size lectures (450-550 students). He also taught undergraduate Statistics online at UMass from 2009 through 2013. Throughout his teaching career, he has been responsible for hiring, managing, and training an average of 10-15 Teaching Assistants per semester to help teach small discussion sections and help grade homeworks, quizzes, and examinations. He has been responsible for advising students in introductory and intermediate undergraduate mathematics and statistics as well as Business Administration courses. Amir’s research and teaching interests include regression analysis and models, urban and transit planning, and transportation planning. His personal interests include politics and sports.
